Workmen lay brick during a reconstruction project at Fountain City Lake on Oct. 29, 1985. A state grant funded a $50,000 restoration project to keep the lake water from stagnating. In addition to the repair of the lake, the work included installation of sidewalks and picnic tables, plus landscaping.

This photo show the result of a major rock slide along a section of I-40 in North Carolina, approximately 5 miles from the Tennessee State Line in 1985. Massive blocks of metasandstone crushed the tunnel portal in a sudden and unexpected rock slide in the spring. Interstate 40 was completely closed for several months during the clean up and remedial work. 3-15-1985

Four months before her birth Hope MountÕs parents found that she would be anencephalic - brain absent. They decided to have her anyway. Baby Hope lived only 59 days.
