MiOSHA holds coffee talk, discusses workplace safety
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Employers across mid-Michigan got a chance to grab a cup of coffee and ask Michigan’s leading authority on workplace safety some important questions.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration held “Coffee with MiOSHA” in Downtown Lansing. The informal event gave safety professionals a chance to network and learn more about handling safety challenges if they occur.
The event was held by MiOSHA and the statewide networking business: “Incompass Michigan,” celebrating their alliance and an anniversary.
“One of the big things that is happening this year is we are turning 50,” MiOSHA director Bart Pickleman said. “MiOSHA ACT and the program began in 1975, we have had a great 50 years protecting Michigan workers.”
Incompass Michigan says they have had a long-standing relationship with MiOSHA to deliver health and safety training to any employer. “By forging that alliance today, we’re taking that partnership to a new level,” Incompass Michigan president Todd Culver said. “To promote awareness, a great level of communication and to foster a culture of health and safety across Michigan.”
In 2023, MiOSHA’s overall incidence rate for reported workplace injuries fell to 2.4 per 100 full-time workers. That’s the lowest since data was collected, starting in 2003.
