The Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Center has slapped a EUR 20,000 fine on Baltic Able Traders, the operator of 2u.lv online store, the consumer rights watchdog said LETA.

In response to numerous complaints from consumers, the watchdog at the end of last year ordered the online store to cease unfair commercial practice.

On March 24 this year, the watchdog slapped a EUR 20,000 fine on the owner of 2u.lv online store and once more ordered the company to immediately cease unfair commercial practice.

The Consumer Rights Protection Center insists that the online store should stop offering and selling to consumers goods that it cannot deliver in accordance with the schedule. It must supply consumers with true information about delivery time, the procedure for getting back the money paid for goods that were not delivered and to ensure swift and effective communication channels for consumers to contact the store.

During last year the consumer rights watchdog had received altogether 158 complaints about Baltic Able Traders and also gave advice to 268 disappointed customers of the unreliable online store.

According to Firmas.lv business information website, Baltic Able Traders, founded in 2005 and fully owned by one individual, Arvids Aleksejevs, closed 2015 with a loss of EUR 632 on a turnover of EUR 1.763 mln.
